The Crochet Baby Cakes Poncho is sized for 6 months, 12- 18 months and 2 - 3 years. The pattern has all three sizes included.
You can learn more about Caron Baby Cakes and New Yarns Released in Spring 2021 here.
The colourful project is crocheted directly out of the ball itself. Meaning, the yarn is doing the work for the colour layout.
The stitch uses is the Houndstooth Stitch which is tight and has some textured applied to it. I believe this is a great cheerful project to enjoy.
Bigger Poncho Sizes
We have bigger sizes with the same stitch combination that the baby version has. You will notice they are Cowl Necks and have sleeves as well. We don't have an adult version with a hood on file.

Any news on the different front and back number of stitches?
Mikey says
I'm sorry. I'm been working until 11 pm at night. I'm so behind. Let me do the math now and push this stuff off my desk. I have to go to the studio and turn off the equipment. Give me a bit and I will count stitches now.
Mikey says
I did the long math in subtraction as per the Yarnspirations design. The back is shorter across by 4 sts. My guess is that the shape of the front of a body needs a bit more stitches so it's bigger by 4 sts across. We assume that the body is symmetrical from front to back but it's not.
So as per the design, it's shorter by 4 sts. If it bothers you, you can just add 4 sts to the ch 17 to make it the same. That's what I would do. I apologize for not putting your needs in priority for my to do list. That's my fault and I overlooked it. I have a number of really upset people right now as I am stumbling.
Enjoy your Sunday. Michael

Absolutely no worries! Life can get like that sometimes. I just created my “to do list” yesterday and it was 3 pages long!! Just gotta put one foot in front of the other and do one thing at a time. Life still presses on regardless and somehow it all works out. Thanks for your help and the great videos! Cheryl

When did life get some complicated eh! It's 8 pm and I am still working! 🙂

Would chaining 4 more stitches on the neck work or make it too big?
Cheryl says
I found my numbers didn’t match up either so I was thinking of just adding more to the neck chain as well? I just wasn’t sure if the hole would then be too big? Maybe the back is supposed to be smaller?

Started this project with the video and it’s great! I really appreciated the hint on how to tell if it’s a single or double stitch that you’re doing. So helpful!! I did my chain a bit tight so it’s a but bunchy at the bottom but that’s okay. A learning process! I kept forgetting if I had started on a single or double stitch so I used 2 different colour stitch markers to help. I suppose I should be able to know by looking at it but maybe that will come.
I had also tried your suggestion on holding your wool when I started crocheting and am so glad I found it. I struggled with that and in all the books I looked at, this was not suggested and yet I love this way.
I just noticed you have a book coming out! Congratulations! I’ll look forward to reading it. A huge step in your crochet journey I’m sure. Thanks for all you do for us newbies! Especially during these crazy lockdown times!
