Crochet Bean Stitch Bag
Introducing the Crochet Bean Stitch Bag, a design by Mikey. Jeanne inspired the bean stitch and it's a pretty addictive stitch too!
Using variegated yarn, this stitch can look really great. The stitch provides thickened textured appearances. The stitches appear to be interwoven. For bags, it gives it added strength to the bag.
The stitch also breaks up the variegation repeating pattern that can happen when you use the same stitch throughout.
There is a repeating of rows 2 - 9 to have the bands of bead stitches that appear in the sample. See the introduction of the tutorial to really get a sense on what it looks like.

I’m new to crochet and have a lot of cotton yarn. I think it would be a fun challenge to make a bag. I love the look of the Bean Stitch bag, but like the attached handles of the Textured Tote. Is it possible to combine the 2 patterns? If so, any tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, you could do it. You keep it in sets of 2 and you should be fine. Play with the concept and see where it takes you. Sounds exciting.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve started my project and so far, it’s looking pretty nice. However, every time I reach round 7 I am confused. The PDF of the pattern says “sl st to next ch 1 space.” Is this correct? It doesn’t seem like you do this in the tutorial video. Thanks!

In the picture, it looks like there are 3 rows of bean stitches. The pattern says 2, not sure if this is just me being dense or a missed row in the pattern. I have added a row of beans and it looks good, but i just thought I'd let you know.

There's a typo in the title of this article--please delete this message once it's corrected; I just don't know how else to let someone know 🙂

Mikey and I make no apologies for our typos and grammar. But would you like to share what it is so we might correct it?
