I love this crochet pillow called the Catch A Wave Crochet Pillow. I love the size, simplicity and especially, the whimsical wave in this graphghan 'like' concept.
This is featuring the brand new yarn by Yarnspirations called Bernat Maker Home Dec. I've come to love this yarn. I love the speed of working with this yarn and the feel of it.
To help you further, I have completed a detailed tutorial for graphic work such as this. The tutorial has been designed to teach you about doing graphghans and pictorial work. There are 7 major steps in this type of concept, with micro lessons in each—everything from considerations of the design, planning, yarn techniques and more.
With this lovely yarn, you can make this project as your test ground and have an incredible home decor project.

Hello, I'm looking to make something similar to this using your tutorial but bernat maker home deco doesn't have the colors I need. Do you have any suggestions for other yarns that could be used for this project? I have looked at the substitute chart for ths yarn but i can't find anything that fits.
Thanks,
Georgia

Hi, my name is Suzanne.
I'm a 30+ year knitter. I learned to knit when I was a teenager because I wanted a fair isle sweater neither my family nor I could afford to buy.
I bought a book, yarn, pattern, and needles and taught myself to knit and follow graphs. I got my sweater and I was very proud of myself.
A few years later I took up counted cross stitch. Again I used graphs to make my projects. So I have some experience with graphs and reading them.
I read your article and watched half of your tutorial this morning. I'll watch the rest when I have the time. I think you did a fabulous job explaining how to read and follow graphs. What I saw should allow the watcher to pick up any graph and reproduce it in crochet, cross stitch or even knit.
It's been years since I've read and followed any graph, but I'm ready to tackle this type of project again when I have the time.
I've promised my grandson and husband I would crochet (I just learned last September) them each a shark snuggle sack following your tutorial when I can afford the yarn. Thank you for that tutorial!
I made the Faux Cable Cowl on Saturday following your tutorial. Your instructions helped me to make this item.
Please don't underestimate the value of your tutorials or the content you include. Sometimes us yarn enthusiasts just need to step outside of our comfort zone, trust in our abilities and try something new.
Thank you for all that you and The Crochet Crowd do.
