Back to the basics, well sort of with this Crochet Modern Chevron Afghan that I designed. A beautiful play on those squares I love so much combined with my other favourite stitchwork of doing the chevron design.

This is actually my second attempt at the same design. The first design, I LIKED it... but didn't LOVE it! So I retried using a completely different colour scheme. Shows how colour can make or break your love for a project. This particular afghan has nostalgic feelings for me.

Free Pattern: Crochet Modern Chevron Afghan

My first memory of anything crocheted is a chevron blanket that graced the back of our living room sofa.  It was a striped single crocheted design made by my mom from the 1960's era, which is when I grew up.  I created this afghan as an updated tribute to the chevrons of the past.  This blanket features the block stitch and color pattern gives it an interesting designer look.

Finished size 50" x 64".

I need to see how you did the 3 row, I'm not sure how to do the peak on this round. If you start in the chain 3 space , count 7 then the peak would not be the normal corner so I'm to afraid to go after doing this being unsure. I love this blanket and can wait to get on with it.

    Hi Jeanne
I am just starting this pattern. I am at the first granny square join and I'm really confused. Can you help me please? I have 2 square completed and the second to row 7.

I learn to crochet by video, I can't get the squares made, I tried all day. This is frustrating! I love the blanket and really wanted to make it.

I was lost on this as well until i figured out that the join takes place at the second corner of the second square. so sc, ch 3, sc in the first corner like the first square then sc, ch 3 around to the second corner. then sc, ch 1 in the same (second) square then sc, ch 1 to the first square, then sc back in the corner of the second square. after the join just continue the last row around to finish off the second square. i hope that helps
