The Easy Crochet Special Olympics Scarf is super easy to make. Inspired by Red Heart Design Team in honour of the 2009 Special Olympics. Yes, I'm late to the party, but I think the design is classic and great for many occasions.
My mother has strong beliefs in equality, which has been passed on through empathy and the need to put others ahead of my own needs. Last week, I made a significant finished product donation that is serving many people and organizations in my community, from the search and rescue and more.
Yarnspirations provides me yarn to teach with; it was only appropriate for the samples I make to teach others to be passed along without people being required to pay for them. Pushing them forward to others without the expectation to pay and have a use for the finished goods. I love the opportunity to serve my community when there is an opportunity.
Unused yarn at home is an opportunity to be a difference for others who may need to be kept warm or serviced through no fault of their circumstances. Many people pop forward when a major crisis has happened to have people make blankets when the need is immediate, and no one has prepared to be able to send items. I have always felt when the need arises, it's too late to start the action to create, and it should have been already established and the communications established before the need happened. So the difference can be felt immediately. Just something to think about. To be the real difference, you have to think ahead and stockpile so if you are compelled to help, you can just go to your bin and pop your items in the mail or give them to a local organization.
