This hat I have made it and pulled it all out thinking I made a mistake somewhere. I did not make a mistake but the hat is so small it would only fit a small child. Is there a way to make it bigger in size?

I don't see anywhere that it gives the needle size?

You are correct. When a pattern like this doesn't have a hook size, use what's suggested on the ball band and adjust as needed to make the gauge.
