Bernat Mosaic is discontinued, but it was my gateway addiction to transitioning yarn from 2009 to 2013ish. Oh my gawd, I was so upset about it being discontinued. It had its problems, but this yarn made crochet for me so much fun! This was a 'Shut Up and Take My Money' yarn for me.
This yarn was 100% acrylic in 100 grams / 3.5 oz ball. It was 191 meters or 209 yards. It recommended a 5 mm / H crochet hook. It was a single-roving yarn.
The colours of this yarn would transition so wonderfully that it had me wanting to do more and more. I couldn't get enough. I may have bought a few cases of this to be frank. I was hooked.
Due to the roving nature, it wasn't the softest yarn out there which made it rough to touch and the roving could create thick and thin areas due to the spinning of it. However, if you really want to see me loose my mind, a cut in the yarn ball on these were like getting a thousand papercuts in my spirit.
I'm a Bernat Mosaic Survivor. I know, pathetically dramatic!
Today, we have Caron Colorama Halo. The colours aren't as rich but the yarn is more stable and soft unlike Bernat Mosaic.
One day, I hope to see something equivalent come out that looks like the original! I would lose my mind!
Leave me your thoughts...
