As a new knitter, your edges can look like hell. The tension can create horrible edges, and you may question whether knitting is right for you. There's a simple trick you can do—it's too simple to be true. BUT IT WORKS!

Just slip-stitch the first loop purl-wise onto the other needle without doing anything to it. You can see a demonstration of that below. It will keep your edges, on both sides as you will do this each time you start a new row, perfectly aligned.
