The Crochet Bubble Hearts are my own design and great for attaching to objects, people or using as decor.
The heart has two lobes at the top that are made first and then the body of the heart will join them together to work its way to the bottom of the heart.
Tips have been given in a step-by-step tutorial.
If you love the crochet bee, that's available as a free pattern as well. The bee is not scheduled for making a video tutorial.
Materials
- Using yarn of your choice and colour suitable for your choice, suggesting Red Heart Super Saver.
- 4.5 mm / G hook.
- Heart is 3” wide x 2.5” tall.
- A couple of stitch markers will help or spare tail ends of yarn.
- Handful of polyfil to stuff your heart. Optional and not applied on originals.
Abbreviations
- Beg = Begin(ning)
- RS = Right Side
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Sc2tog = Single Crochet 2 Together
- Sl St = Slip Stitch
- Sp = Space
- St(s) = Stitch(es)
Note: The rounds are in a continuous manner. Use stitch markers to help you keep count as there is no slip stitching.
Create an adjustable ring.
1st rnd: RS. 6 sc into adjustable ring. Mark last st with stitch marker and continually move the stitch marker as you complete each round. 6 sc.
2nd rnd: 2 sc in each st around. 12 sc.
3rd rnd: *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next. Rep from * around. 16 sc.
4th rnd: 1 sc in each st around. 16 sc.
For the first circle only, sl st into next st. Leave a long tail so you can sew the joint gap that will happen. Wait until the heart is done and leave the long tail on the outside of the heart.
Start a new adjustable ring and repeat steps 1 to 4. Do not cut yarn and continue on. Be sure to have moved up the stitch marker to the last st to start the next section.
1st rnd: Continuing on with the second circle. 1 sc in next 8 sc, grab the first circle where ou finished it and start to sc in each st completely around in all 16 sc. Leave a long tail from the join on RS so the tail doesn’t stay inside the heart. Then apply 1 sc in the remaining 8 sc in the second circle you started with. 32 sc.
2nd rnd: 1 sc in each st around. 32 sc.
3rd rnd: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in next 6 sc. Rep from * around. 28 sc.
4th rnd: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in next 5 sc. Rep from * around. 24 sc.
5th rnd: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in next 4 sc. Rep from * around. 20 sc.
6th rnd: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sc. Rep from * around. 16 sc.
7th rnd: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sc. Rep from * around. 12 sc. If you want to apply stuffing, now is the moment. Originals shown don’t have stuffing.
8th rnd: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. 8 sc.
9th rnd: 1 sc in each sc around. 8 sc.
Fasten off by cutting a long tail to gather the 8 sc and pull the hole closed.
Close off the top gap using the strand that you left from the first circle. You can also use this strand to form a dangle ring by securing it so there is about a 1” long loop.

Hi Mikey. Your my favorite yarn teacher. I live your patterns and they are easy to follow. I want to make several of the bubble hearts for my granddaughters first birthday, which is Valentine’s Day, as party favors. Is there a printable pattern for this. I would love to just print and use for reference as it it easier then reading in my phone. I hope you have an amazing day.
