Crochet Hooded Textured Cowl + Tutorial

The Crochet Cowl Snoodie is a playful attempt at chevron with a chevron bounce without up and down curves. Enjoy the texture.

I sat with a multiple of 5, which you can change this size to any thing if you keep in multiples of 5 chains. Designed for an adult so I can wear it. I wondered where the texture would go if I play with the bouncing of the texture to create a chevron wave with the texture itself.

This is 13" diameter x 17" long. You can wear it as a bulky cowl or pull it up over your head to enjoy.

(Insert the hook into the back loop of the next stitch and draw through a loop) twice (3 loops on the hook), yoh and draw through all loops on the hook.

Note

This pattern is worked in a continuous round. Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds. Suggesting to mark the last stitch of each round.

The stitch multiple for this texture is 5 chs. If you do a chain in set of 5 chs and try it around your neck, you can stop anytime you finish a set of 5. The pattern will work out.

1st rnd: RS. Careful not to twist the chain, start in first ch to form the ring and place 1 sc in each ch around. Do not join and work in a continuous rnd from this point. 105 sts.

2nd and 3rd rnds: 1 blo sc in each st around. 105 sts.

A reminder that when you complete a fltr below stitch that it counts as the stitch it is sitting in front of. Be sure to skip that stitch when starting the next repeat.

4th rnd: *1 blo sc in each of the next 4 sts, fltr. Rep from * around. 105 sts.

5th: *Fltr, 1 blo sc in next 2 sts,  fltr, 1 blo sc in next st. Rep from * around. 105 sts.

6th rnd: 1 blo sc in next st, fltr  in next 2 sts. *1 blo sc in next 3 sts, fltr in next 2 sts. Rep from * around. 1 blo sc in last 2 sts. 105 sts.

7th and 8th rnd: *1 blo sc in each st around. 105 sts.

Rep 4th to 8th rnds to approx 16”. Do not fasten off.

Crochet Cowl Snoodie Continuous Round. You can see how it looks as you pass the stitchmarker. The one stitch is a bit higher just before the stitch marker. It flows nicely but it's hardly noticeable unless you call attention to it.

Top Rolled Face Opening

1st rnd: 1 flo sc in each st around. 105 sts.

Note: The unused back loops from the last round will be used on the final round of this project.

Next 10 rnds: 1 sc in each st around. 105 sts.

Note: Fold over top rolled section so the wrong sides are facing each other. Insert hook through last row and remaining back loop on the 1st rnd of this section to create the roll.

Last rnd: With the last rnd and 1st rnd of the top rolled face opening section, sc around through both thicknesses to permanently create the roll. Fasten off.

Sew the brim long strand to even off the brim line.

In regards to the 6th round.
There are two locations that have an *.
Then it says to repeat from * around.
So I repeat from the fist *, OR the second * OR do o combine the two.

Thanks a MILLION for what you do 😊😊

It should read like this. Great catch. 6th rnd: 1 blo sc in next st, fltr  in next 2 sts. *1 blo sc in next 3 sts, fltr in next 2 sts. Rep from * around. 1 blo sc in last 2 sts. 105 sts.

This yarn is one of the worst I've ever worked with. It twists into snarls constantly. I have to roll the yarn between my fingers to untwist it. Love the way it's looking, though! Great design.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I have no idea why that is happening to you. Just use something else.
