Crochet Playing Card Suit Storage Basket

Are games a thing at your house? Possibly a game of Euchre, Uno and other smaller games to store? Wendy Maruna came up with a perfect gift for her family as a birthday present. Introducing the Card Suit Crochet Storage Basket.

The covering is slid over an existing box you need to find. The dimensions are approximately 10" x 10" x 10".

There are 5 sizes for the crochet covering. The bottom panel is just single crochet with a colour of your choice and the four outward sides each have a symbol of bobble that form either a heart, clover, diamond or spade.

Wendy did the original in Lily Sugar'n Cream Cotton but her life partner suggested that she do the bobble in a different colour. So you can do it the original way without worry of doing tapestry crochet or give it a lift with the clay cover she used. The box is using Bernat Maker yarn.

This pillow does the bobbles without tapestry crochet.

To make it like the card box, you need to do the bobbles the way it is showing below.

Four motifs are made and joined together on the edges using zigzag slip stitch technique. Those motifs are 9” x 9” inches in size. With Lily Sugar’n Cream the motifs are 8” x 8” square. There is a bottom square of solid colour in single crochet that is under the box.

The top round has 1 round of single crochet around using the Clay colour.

The second round is reverse single crochet crochet aka crab stitch.
