Crochet Scalloped Top
Crochet a super cute Crochet Scalloped Top that has peek-a-boo shoulder openings at the top to provide design interest.
This pattern is just two panels made in the shape of a "T" as you can see in the pictures below that are sewn together to form this casual crochet top.
Initially, the pattern looks intimidating but when you break it down in steps, you realize it's pretty straight forward. There is just a repeat line all the way through which makes it super easy to remember. The video tutorial presentation below will show you the steps and what to look for. The homemade diagrams I made will help illustrate the points in the pattern where it's just words to explain what to do.
For myself, I got hung up on the additional chains once starting the sleeve portion. Eventually, it just clicked on what they wanted me to do. The tutorial explains that as well.
If you prefer not to have your shoulders doing a peek-a-boo, simply sew the seam across top shut. The choice is up to you.
I was able to finish my version in less than 5 hours without consideration of filming breaks to show my steps. I was so surprised by how fast it was.
The project I did in blue was using the Caron Simply Soft Ombres. The Colour is called Saturday Blue Jeans. Keep in mind that the Ombre line has less yardage than regular simply soft colours. So you want to make sure you check the yardage if you are substituting. In my example, it claimed I needed 3 balls of Caron Simply Soft. I did substitute and I did get away with 3 balls of Ombres. Larger sizes may not work out like that. Just be aware.

There are 2 video's for this pattern, one it does work, the other it doesn't. I have also added the blue pattern button here that will take you to where you can get the pattern. Thank you very much for bringing this one to our attention we truly appreciate it.

Hi Mickey:
I am so looking forward to making this for summer but I am not seeing what weight the yarn is. Can you please advise?
Thank you
Marcia

Looks like you may have missed it on the written pattern. It's #4 weight.

Is it possible to make this wider on the bottom and then have it gradually narrow towards the bust area for those that have wider hips? A 2xl is always a little baggy on the top for me but fits better around my hip area.
GINA M MACLEAN says
Maybe drop down a size in crochet hook that would make it more narrow.
