Crochet Swirling Texture Pillow Pattern

This is a crochet wiggles stitch concept that is the Crochet Swirling Texture Pillow Pattern. The crochet wiggles are added on after the base of the pattern is made first. Essentially, it is a surface overlay. There is Bernat Velvet yarn.

The free crochet pattern includes the road map in diagram to follow. The background behind the wiggles is a large square unique that looks like a graph paper mesh of using half double crochet stitches and chain 1 spaces.

    The crochet swirl is beautiful and the yarn is so soft. However, when I chain 85 then Hdc in 4th chain from hook I come out with 82 stitches not 84 like the pattern says. Am I doing something wrong or is the count wrong? Can you help me?

      try starting in the third chain instead of the fourth. see how that works out?
