Valuable Insider Tips for Afghan Making

Entrelac Crochet has been one of the hardest elements for me to understand with Crochet. I have seen this concept in books since I was 14 years old and tried several times but always ended up frustrated and confused. I have even tried to follow video tutorials by others and I still didn't get it. Its a concept I have avoided because I just couldn't get it.

While on The Crochet Cruise Cruises, two fabulous ladies, Barbara and Diane, showed me the concept. It took me an hour to grasp but I really needed someone in person to show me and answer questions as I went along. It was probably one of the best hours of 2014 to date.

I have filmed a 12 Minute Video that is available in the Read More Section below that goes over the tips I have learned. Video explanations will show you key concepts to understanding the principles of this stitch work.

If I didn't want to work squares around the world, instead in a straight line, how to I count the amount of stitches? Example 11 chain stitches per 9 squares plus 1. This is for the 12 stitches x 12rows per block.

Here is a link to a pattern for Entrelac in the rows. IT's multiple is 10+2. https://thecrochetcrowd.com/entrelac-rows/

I understand the straight chain count for rows. But I want to make a big block of 12 stitches with 11 rows tall. How do I figure out how many chain stitches I need to start. Correct me on this, I'm taking a wild guess. 15 stitches per block --( 10 blocks= 150 +2) ? Do you have a video on the 12 stitch block? Thank You.

I will have to revisit this. I will have to draw a diagram and do the calculations. I don't have videos on the 12 st block unfortunately.

So the the bigger square there needs to always be 12 instead of just 7? Is there any specific chain count. For example multiple of 2 plus 1 or anything.

Would it be possible to see a tutorial on "linear" entrelac? I having trouble figuring it when it is not in the round like your previous tutorial.

    Thank you
