The Crochet Crowd Stitch Social Facebook Group Retirement
The Crochet Crowd Stitch Social Group Page on Facebook will retire soon. Established in 2015, it was a way for crocheters to participate in our Crochet Stitch Alongs to help each other out. Over the years, it became a realm of inspiration and happiness for those who celebrated crochet love. Since our beginning, The Crochet Crowd's motto has been 'Inspire, Create and Celebrate.'
We have worked tirelessly to keep this group safe from spam, meanness, and opinions unrelated to crochet. Over the years, that goal has been an enormous challenge for my staff and I. While things have changed a bit, the social landscape beyond Facebook is beginning to change with new ideas and platforms to explore. So while this is an ongoing stitching journey for me, some things need to be cut for new beginnings.
I am passionate about creating new projects for you, and I love that so many of you have participated in those projects and explored your stitching journey. I want to do MORE! But maintaining and keeping up with all the day-to-day events with this group's significant pressure and maintenance is emotionally draining. We are unable to keep up with the attention this group deserves.
This decision to retire the group was decided based on the mental health of my staff and I. Please respect mental health for all of us is just as important. As moderating is being removed from our duties, I want my team to focus on the educational and pattern development component like we used to. This will allow us to focus on making new content priority number one.
This will be less pleasant for some of you as many of you have loved this group. I urge you not to be upset but to celebrate that your love for crochet is more vital than you may know.
Moving Forward
This is not the end of Facebook 'Group' participation. The Crochet Crowd Facebook Main Page will still be up and running with ideas for you to grab a ball of yarn to create your next project. We urge you to follow and like that page. The Crochet Crowd Website and The Crochet Crowd YouTube, and The Knitting Crowd YouTube will be stronger than ever, and we might also see you in other groups or platforms.
Mikey will personally participate as a regular community member in Yarnspirations Stitch Squad, Red Heart Lover's Club and Bernat Stitching Sanctuary Facebook groups. Links to those are above.
Most importantly, many of you enjoy other Facebook groups inspiring you with ideas to celebrate. So as this group says goodbye, others will say hello and welcome. Please, this is NOT THE TIME to start advertising another group or building a new group for the benefit of our announcement. To this end, we will still moderate until the end with all seriousness for your internet safety. Please note that our guidelines are still in effect.
We hope to see you there in the other groups mentioned in the show and tell for inspirational ideas. Yarnspirations.com and their Facebook groups have given me enormous direction and this tough decision. Since Yarnspirations and I have a beautiful working relationship, I hope you will also enjoy sharing your projects in their groups. I will be a regular community member in one of the suggested groups.
