Gee, Why Are These Yarn Balls So Small?
I was first introduced to Lion Brand’s Bonbons back in 2011 when I see them at a trade show. I thought, gee those are super adorable. Being a lover of yarn, a mini size yarn ball is cute to have. After the novelty of the size wore off, I started to think about it more. “What’s up with the bonbons?”
Bonbons are exquisite yarns provided in sizes that won’t break the bank. For approximately eight dollars, you have 8 different colours of yarn that work together as a set. Just for kicks, I weighed 1 ball and it’s about 10 grams. If, for example, the red ball was In an average size ball of 100 grams, the same yarn in a regular size ball would be about $10 each. To have all of the colours seen in the package would be about $80.
Like many crocheters and knitters, we love to accent and use smaller amounts of yarn for accenting items, the bonbons fill the need of allowing yarn artists, like you and I, to have smaller amounts without having to invest oodles of cash, even better, keep our stash of yarn collections to a minimal amount instead. There are 8 different varieties of colour combinations provided by Lion Brand.
You can choose from Crayons, Jingle Bells, Celebrate, Party, Nature, Beach, Pastels and Brights. I think if I were to choose two packages, I would totally choose the Brights and Crayons. I love loud and bold colours myself. The colours in the above picture are from the Party collection.
