The Caron Anniversary Cakes in the festive edition, in this colour called Peppermint Plaid, remind me of candy striping on a candy cane. Playfully, I have named this blanket the Crochet Candy Lane Blanket. There is a downloadable version of this written pattern that includes a crochet diagram to assist you if you need extra help.
You will see that there is a repeating pattern of 10 rows to make the diagonal pop-outs work best. It helps break up the colour more and keeps you mentally interested. This project took me two days to make, and the size of the yarn and hook make it a quick last-minute Christmas gift idea.
I have given the stitch multiples; if you would like to change this size. These make for great palliative care size as well.

Try A Different Pattern Using the Same Yarn
You can use the Gingerbread version of the Caron Anniversary Cakes. Only one ball is needed, but you can add a second ball to make it even bigger. This is the Crochet Gingerbread Blanket.

Notes
- Chain 2 at the beginning of the rows doesn’t count as a stitch.
- Allow the colours to come out of the ball, as is. There was no colour strategy and just let the yarn play itself out.
- Stitch multiple is 5 chs + 4.
