Crochet Frosted Layer Cake Shawl
The new Caron Cakes yarn is a perfect yarn for making this warm and comfy shawl. Crochet Frosted Layer Cake Shawl. Feel free to substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn in solids or mixing colors for a lovely effect. This pattern would also be nice to use for your prayer shawl circle.
This generous size shawl is 85" x 27". I wear it with the top edge rolled down to give the appearance of having a collar. You can easily make it smaller or larger to your preferred size. In fact, as a one Caron Cake crochet pattern, it would be a nice shawlette at 47" x 16".

It looks as though you crocheted a collar, but im not seeing that in the directions, or missing it one of the two. I am about to turn to work on the top edge, at the edging stage and wanted a small collar. Can you clarify how you made, did your collar for me? Im making this for my mil for christmas. Thanks in advance. Lori

There is no extra collar. It's just the way I wear it. I bring it up and fold it over to create the illusion of a collar. Simple. 🙂

In the video it seems like the end loops (chain 4) is just dc, chain, dc.. Then turn... But the written instructions make it seem like it's dc,dc, chain, dc then turn... Can you clarify which is correct ?? I'm just starting and going by the written pattern but I'd hate to get too far in and realize it's wrong., thank you!!!
Jeanne - The Crochet Crowd says
That's because you dc into the ch-4, which is really a dc and ch-1, then dc-ch1-dc in the 3rd ch. from the written, dc in ch-1 sp, dc-ch1-dc in last st. I'm pretty sure that what shows in the video too.

Thank you!! I finally got it going. I've only been crocheting for about a year and a half so sometimes I get confused. When I was going by the video I must have been missing that part because I kept coming up short on row 3... I really appreciate you giving feedback on the pattern!!
