Bernat Happy Holidays yarn was a 4-ply medium-weight worsted yarn. The original formula was rough to the touch, and the filament that made the shine was really yarn on the hands, for those who recall. I have a solution at the bottom of this article for another sparkle yarn that feels great and is more modern in colours too!
Yarnspirations asked me to relook at this yarn before it was discontinued, and I am like, 'spare me' from the memories I had from this yarn at the beginning of my stitching career. I want the skin on my hands, thank you very much.
They said to try it and let us know! So I picked up a ball, and I was floored!
Through innovation, the sparkle filament responsible for crocheting my skin into the project was no longer rough, and you wouldn't know it was there. They figured out the technology from scratch.
People like me who remember rough products tend to avoid them, knowing that they have updated the product. We tend to avoid trying it again.
