I have done this blanket a couple of times. I believe the count is off. It says to chain 157, then dc in the 4th from hook. Leaving you with 154. But you need 155 to make the pattern work. Did anyone else find this?

          March 28, 2025 at 9:47 am

When you crochet 4th ch from the hook, it eliminates only 2 chains (count wise) as the 3rd ch away is the base of the first st.

Example, try chaining 9. DC 4th ch from the hook and across the chain. You end up with 7 dc as the first ch you are skipping counts as a st.

So if you chain 157 minus 2 = 155. As the skipped chain counts as the first dc.

      Geometry Lesson-week 3
      Written pattern
      Marked places should say ch3
*ch 5, skip (dc, ch1, dc) should say (dc, ch3, dc).
*1 dc in each of the next 3 dc - should say ch 3 after this section.

First I want to say I love this CAL, learning so much, feels so good to master a new stitch Secondly, I’ll be doing this one again for sure! I’ve been making notes on my paper copy for next time, printed out the new revision this morning, and transferred my notes over. Question though, on week 3, row 9, in the written pattern - at the end of the row, it’s missing the Ch 3 before skipping the dc and ch 2 sp. I am not really good at reading graphs although I’m sure learning to with this one!

      Mikey,

Thanks a million for the Afghan hook suggestion in the week 2 tutorial. It has made the W5 sooo much easier! The pattern is working up fabulously so far.

Mikey, Week 2 the written words don't match the charts for the beginning dcs and ending dcs in rows 7, 8, 9 & 10. The charts are correct, the written needs updating.

Yes, it does. We are working diligently behind the scenes. Another revision should be coming out soon. Weeks 3 and 4 need a small rewrite in several sections. The diagrams are correct.

I found a few more, week 2 round 11 should start with ch1, 1 sc in each of first 2 DC instead of 3 and end with to last 3 DC instead of 2 so that you sc in last 3 dcs. Week 3 row 2 starts with ch3 I DC in each of next 3sc but should read 3dc.

      Hi Mikey,
I love this pattern and just got started yesterday. I noticed some issues with the pattern.
      1. The gauge is in sc but the pattern is in dc.
      2. When calculating finished size using the stitch count and gauge, the size does not match what 8s listed in the pattern.
      3. The very first photo seems wrong. The group of dc on the right has 6dc and should only have 5. The group of dc in the middle only has 4 and should be 5.

Would you please be able to provide the actual yardage you used per colour to make this. I often find if I buy based on the number of balls and skein yardage listed in the required material, I over buy when buying smaller skeins/balls. As a result, I end up with a ton of leftovers. For example caron simply soft. If I buy based on yardage I am sure to have lots of waste left at the end. Thanks!

The cool thing about this is you can go at your own pace. No need to actually stitch along to someone else's timeline. Each week the instructions and video are posted and you work according to your own schedule. I've only done one, but I did most of my stitching late at night and I learned so much. I think you should jump in and do it! You'll love it.

I don't have the information but you can look up the ball and figure that out. 2 balls of Caron One Pound each are 812 yards, and then 2 balls of Lake Mist that are each 659 yards and 1 ball of Sunset that is 659 yards.

The yarn is available at most of the JOANN Stores but is out of stock online unfortunately. I would substitute to something else of the 4 Ply Medium Weight.

Love the tease!!! Can you provide the repeat/stitch counts so that I can make it smaller/baby size? I've embarked on a personal project to create baby blankets for the local children's hospital. Win-win-win.... get to try new patterns, get my therapy, create things to give away. I have to stop collecting throws and afghans in my own home

This pattern doesn't have a repeating to simplify down. The different stitchwork used doesn't equally divide down as the counts for each of the types of patterns vary from one to the other.

I have finished more afghans and throws in the last few years by keeping on schedule with the crowd than I ever did in the 35+ years previous. (Started many, finished few).
Plus I love to learn all the new stitches & techniques. I can safely say I have advanced from a basic beginner level to experienced Intermediate just by doing CAL's over the years.

Love the stitch slings. Try to do two or three when they come out. Usually follow the written pattern but really like that the tutorial is available if I get stuck.

I love stitch a longs because it gives me the the opportunity to stretch my skills and try new stitches and patterns that I may never try otherwise. Thank you to everyone at The Crochet Crowd for their efforts. PS thank Jeannie for the stitch counts in the Calming Comfort Afghan, if not for that I would have messed up several times. Thanks!

Awesome! I can’t wait to do this stitch along with you, Mikey! It’s been a couple years for me—I have recently gotten back into crocheting this past fall and winter, and I can’t wait to crochet with you again!

I love the stitch alongs. I always learn something new & create something that I never thought I could. Mikey’s videos are the absolute best! Thank you for all these wonderful patterns. In spite of stupid Covid, I’m having the time of my life. I’ve become a yarn addict too…. But don’t tell my husband ok?

I use to enjoy them, but lately (in these pandemic times) in feels like we're not given enough lead time to get yarn. I typically have to order mine online and by the time I find a supplier that has what I want and get the order placed it can take a couple months to arrive.
