Crochet doesn't always work when our mouths work more than our hands. Concentration on patterns is too much for stitch social occasions. I created two versions of this same concept to allow you to yap as you crochet.
Both of the scarves use the graphghan concept. The tutorials at the bottom will show you how it's done.
With the thinner middle stripe version, there was enough yarn to do the fringe for both scarves. They are using Chunky Monkey yarn, which I picked up at Jimmy Beans Wool. This was one of the projects for the Jimmy Beans Retreat so that crocheters could socialize.
Jingle Balls Scarf (Thinner Middle Stripe)
Both of the red and green in the Jingle Scarf have just 7 single crochet while the middle stripe is just 3 sc. The yarn isn't carried across but just done like it's bobbins.

Crochet Diagrams
You can download and/or print a copy of the diagrams if you feel it helps you out. Both diagrams are on the same page.
Crochet Taffy Pull Scarf
Each stripe is equal in width to the magic number of seven single crochet across. In the way I decided this, you won't have enough for fringe but you can always get a fourth ball.
