The Crochet Study of Blue Blanket has been designed for I Like Crochet Magazine for release in October 2025. A magazine focused on just crochet with easy to intermediate level patterns. With over 700 patterns in the collection of the magazines it has done in the past, you'll be hooked up with this pattern in Fall 2025.
I Like Crochet Magazine wanted a blanket in Mikey's signature look, and the colour was to be focused around blue. Mikey selects Caron Colorama in the colour called Overboard. Using 9 ounces, you can create a 56" x 56" square blanket designed in #5 chunky weight yarn.
Once the blanket transitions to a square, the remaining part of the blanket is an easy repetition of 4 rows until the desired size is achieved. This means you could stop when the blanket is big enough for you.

The Study of Blue Blanket becomes the 20th Stitch Sampler in the Study of Series by Mikey. You can see all of the study series designs here.

Mikey took a poll on YouTube, and it was determined that more crocheters prefer to let the colours flow from the ball, as is. It breaks Mikey's aesthetic but the majority ruled this time around. In Mikey's real world, he would have selected different yarn and forced colour changes. This will be up to the crocheters to decide if they want to do so.
