4 Sizes: Baby Pullover Crochet Sweater + Tutorial

Learn how to make this incredible baby sweater called Take it from the Top Pull Over Sweater. I don't film many baby sweaters, but I was attracted to the interesting stitchwork, and looking at the colour palette, I knew boys or girls could wear this design if the colours were selected for each gender.

The sizing of the instructions included 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and 24 months. We don't know what any other sizes are though I know we will be slammed with emails asking us to figure that out. The shaping of the neckline bodice concept doesn't work for older kids or adults as we shape differently the older we get.

This sweater starts at the neckline making a bodice. It doesn't take look to get to the divide to begin the body. The fancy stitchwork is actually just 3 rows that are repeating for stitch work. There are 11 rows of instructions because the designer is having us change colour strategically.

The tutorial version is using bold colours. Daniel and I had selected the colour palette to make it for boys. We substituted instead of Bernat Baby Sport and used Caron Simply Soft. You only need 1 ball of each of the Caron Simply Soft for the 6 months version that I did. You may need two balls of the main colour if doing the 18 or 24 months version. My colours are Dark Country Blue as my main colour, Colour A was Blue Mint and Colour B was Neon Yellow.

We leave the colour mixing to you, the crocheter to come up with amazing mixes. I can see this sweater in many different colours.

Also keep in mind that if substituting yarn from the original, the Bernat Baby Sport is a Light Weight 3 Yarn. Knowing Caron Simply Soft is a premium acrylic and not as thick as Bernat Super Value, I figured it would work and it did. You will have bigger sizes if substituting with Worsted 4 Ply Yarns such as Bernat Super Value.

      Help ... Help ... Help
I have been making this sweater. It is my first attempt at a sweater. I checked my gauge and it seemed a little small so I switched to a J hook. Now my sweater is huge. My arms are 8ish inches from under arm to cuff. The chest is about 25 inches completely around. I think I am hitting measurements for an 18M but it looks much bigger than that. By sight the shirt looks more like a 4T. My problem is I am not sure how long to make it from the top of the shoulders, at the neck, to the bottom trim. I have looked up sizes and the charts are telling me 24 inches. I am at about 13 now and it looks like an inch or more should be more than sufficient. Can anyone give me measurements that will help me finish this off? Thank you in advance.

I really liked this article and I like how the tutorial was inserted in the bottom.
As soon as I can get through my other project I've marked this one to come back to and make this adorable sweater.
