Cottage Throw
Learn how to make this Cottage Throw a free pattern by Yarnspirations.
This pattern is a bit deceptive as it looks complicated when, in fact, it's not! It's a matter of understanding what to do between the corners which makes the world of difference.
In the tutorial below, I show you how to get started and what to look for. By the time you finish the tutorial, you will think to yourself, "I get it!" Well, at least I hope you say that!
Try this free pattern. It hooks up pretty quickly.

Could you do this afghan with dc instead of trebles??
Mikey, The Crochet Crowd says
I would suspect that would be okay too.

Hello, Mikey:
I want to make square or rectangle crochet "throws" (or bed covers, furniture covers, blankets, rugs,...) made from the center out. I do not like to handle the thin chain on a wide piece to make it longer and longer (boring). I do not want to piece anything. I want to start from the center and go, getting bigger and bigger until I run out of yarn. I do not want the annoying joining seam on each row.
I have made several small pieces this way. It is, of course a "spiral" but with corners.
Do you make things this way? I have not looked hard, but do not see patterns for this.
Let me know. I am now working on making the center sturdy.
Thank you,
Lynn

I think Yarnspirations just released a pattern this morning. http://yarnspirations.com It's in their new Thanksgiving eBook. I think the afghan is exactly what you are talking about doing.
