7 Dish Lovers Crochet Dishcloth Patterns

Crochet dishcloths are the gateway project for new crocheters. Small enough to try crochet. For experienced crocheters, portable projects and gift giving ideas.

People generally ask me, what is the best project for someone new, I say it's the simple dishcloth that is below. For those who are learning, they need to learn tension and within a few rows, you can see a beginner improving. In fact, I feel the first dishcloth is the sample that determines whether there is interest.

It's also true, some new beginners dive in harder than others. To each their own. I think what drives a crocheter is the desire of motivation they feel.

Tip: Do not use acrylic for dish applications such as this. Also, do not use in the microwave. Some crocheters can insist on using dishcloth types of yarn products in the microwave but it is a fire hazard.

For the record, I hate doing dishes but feel good after it's done as it's a to-do item off my list.

The Crochet Apple A Day Dishcloth won't keep the doctor away but cleaning your dishes after use may prevent rodents and bad kitty cats from jumping onto the counter.

For this project, the last two rounds of the apple are what give the final shape. You need to take your time when doing these two final rounds so your counts are consistent.

You can be creative with the colours to customize it. Another idea I had, I could have done the entire apple in red or green so it doesn't look like the apple is sliced. Up to your own creativity on what you prefer.

    Crochet Hexagon Dishcloth

This Crochet Hexagon Dishcloth is a good little project if you are going on a plane, train, bus or passenger in a car.  I don't know about you, but when I'm in that passenger seat for long trips, it can get pretty boring. I like to have something to keep me busy. Designed by Lorna Misner, she had us in mind with this Crochet Hexagon Dishcloth. The Red Heart Scrubby balls are small so you can easily take a few colours with you and whip up a few of these easy to do Crochet Hexagon Dishcloths on the go.

Recently, the local stitcher's group did a dishcloth exchange for Christmas. This was one of the patterns they used.

Something a bit fancy without a ton of lost brain cells to get this Crochet Pinwheel Dishcloth worked up into your hands. The pattern is so easy to follow and Yarnspirations has provided a diagram to show you where the stitches go too!

Also, I'm here to help, I have provided a tutorial below to walk you through the complete pattern with step by step. I have included a breakdown of the diagram as we go for your learning pleasure if you want to learn I should say.

This is using Lily Sugar'n Cream. You could also use Bernat Handicrafter yarn as well. You need to use 100% cotton for applications such as this in the kitchen.

    Made to A Square

The Pinwheel Dishcloth was the birthplace of the Flora Afghan Chrysanthemum Square. Crocheters requested that this pinwheel be converted to a granny.

I wrote 7 patterns that went with this afghan and this was one of them that was in it. There are videos for each of the squares too.

    Crochet Round Dishcloth

Crochet this easy round dishcloth. The dishcloth plays on the premise of shells of different combos as it grows bigger. It will end up with 18 scallops around the perimeter in the end.

The pattern is easy to follow and I feel are one of the basics of learning crochet mandalas of understanding circles and growth patterns.

As long as they are 100% cotton and probably double the thickness to protect the surfaces.
