Our guest designer, Donna Bondy, has mathematically figured out how to add 20" to your Study of Texture Afghan pattern. Donna has also reformulated the pattern to be a rectangle. This information will work for both.
Original Study of Texture Patterns
The Extra Credit and An Extension Pattern to add on. Choose either of the styles of blankets below and scroll on down to get the extra additional rounds to make them bigger.
Instructions
Rectangle - Repeats to Make Blanket Bigger. Approximately 78 inches long by 68 inches wide.
Square - Repeats to make Blanket Bzigger. Approximately 72” square.
To begin, do not do round 55 on either sample and continue onwards with the instructions below using the original pattern. Choose either the square or rectangular version.
Repeat the following rnds:
Repeat Rounds 32 – 42
Repeat Rounds 25 – 31
Repeat Rounds 20 – 23
Repeat Round 42
Repeat Rounds 13 – 19
Repeat Rounds 6 – 12
Repeat Rounds 2 – 5
Last rnd: Ch 1, sc around post of joining hdc, picot, 2 sc in same sp as first sc, picot, (sc in next 2 st, picot) rep ( ) around with (sc, picot, 2 sc, picot) in corners. Join with a sl st to first sc, fasten off.
This will start to take you back through the Afghan. So, to complete this extra credit, do not use Rnd 55 on the original patterns. Just continue with this downloadable PDF to go back through the pattern.
This is mathematically figured out, so we don't know a ball count to do this.
