The Crochet Cozy Cardigan Jacket is designed for beginners and beyond. It uses Red Heart All-In-One Granny Square yarn. Mikey wanted to create a sample using Lily Sugarn Cream yarn and add a slight twist to each granny square. The changes he made to the granny square are in diagram format below. Please note that you cannot use the Red Heart All-In-One Granny Square yarn for the changes Mikey made.
Mikey's changes still require the square to be 6" x 6". He is using a 5 mm / H/8 hook and 8 colours of Lily Sugarn Cream. He bought large format Ball Size Solids: 113g / 4 oz, 184 meters / 200 yards. There is a lot of yarn left over to make dishcloths and other home decor items.
Mikey used the following colours:
Lily Sugar’n Cream, 113g / 4 oz, 184 meters / 200 yards (2080 yds total needed)
- Contrast A = Warm Brown 203 yards - 2 Balls
- Contrast B = Rainforest (substituted) 198 yards - 1 Ball
- Contrast C = Hot Green 204 yards - 2 Balls
- Contrast D = Rose Pink 214 yards - 2 Balls
- Contrast E= Blue Jeans 198 yards - 1 Ball
- Contrast F = Blueberry (substituted) 175 yards - 2 Balls
- Contrast G = Teal (substituted) 185 yards - 1 Ball
- Contrast H = Red 219 yards - 2 Balls
- Contrast I = Beach Glass 333 yards - 2 Balls
- Contrast J = Black 151 yards - 1 Ball

Mikey tends to crochet like an assembly line. Using the pattern suggestion of 54 squares for his sizing, he does all round 1 of each of the 54 first before moving onto round 2. Due to the eight colours, every square is different in colour format, never to have a repeating square throughout the jacket. That's a personal choice of creativity. To you, do what makes you happy if you prefer symmetry or styling in a way that is more uniform. Mikey prefers a random look for this type of wearable.
