New Crochet Diagram Symbol - Repeat Connector

I'm an advocate of crochet diagrams due to the intentional usage of these diagrams that do not require English to be known to follow the crochet pattern. It's globally inclusive.

Introducing the Repeating Connector symbol developed by me, Michael Sellick, with the help of the Membership Level on YouTube for feedback.

In larger patterns where something has changed such as the bobbles are in this upper square, the diagrams have to be massive to show how many stitches are skipped but as the diagrams get bigger, they are difficult to read and impossible to print out.

Instead of having the entire project on paper, a simplified version of the pattern can exist. The Repeat Connector can tell crocheters that there is a repeating of a type of stitch and how many times it is done.

Below, you can see the connector has 14 +. The plus symbol is single crochet. After the single crochet, the repeat connector shows up to tell you how many times the single crochet is done before you hit the bobble.

This allows the diagrams to be more clear and much easier to read.

YouTube Membership had many thoughts. Some of them, like me, felt a directional arrow is needed to remind crocheters the direction to read the line. Especially in the new blanket by Jeanne where the rounds can be on the right or wrong side, depending on the round, of course. This would remove any questions.

We examined many symbols such as (14) but felt that there was no mention of the stitch to use. We also looked at (+ 14 +) but felt that a crocheter might put in 14 single crochet and add 2 more with it showing up twice in the brackets.

You will see this coming up on future crochet diagrams on The Crochet Crowd, when necessary.
