Mikey's crochet scarf resembles the Grinch's colouring for this graphghan concept, but as a scarf. Easy to follow and jump between the colours as you crochet. A tutorial is provided below for anyone needing an extra hand with the instructions.

How to Make A Crochet Scarf

Note: The tutorial is available for free to see how the colour changing works.

Before you begin, you need to reserve yarn for the fringe. This means you need to cut the fringe from the B ball.

    1. There are 18 fringes in total, 9 per side.
    2. Easy fringe is made up of 3 - 12” strips.
    3. Make 54 - 12” strip lengths and hold aside. The middle colour, B, uses the least yarn in the main body of the scarf and is the best colour for the reserve.

The beginning chain changes colour as you crochet across. It's a bit easier if you prefer to use B all the way across, as it will be hidden by the fringe.

Option 1 - If B all the way across: Ch 18.

Option 2 - If changing colours across: With A ch 7. Change to B and hold A to the back of the chain, then ch 3. Change to C and hold B to the back of the chain and ch 8.

TIP: If I were to do this today, I would choose option one instead of how I did it originally. You decide. The video shows option 2, and it’s a bit cumbersome to start a fresh project. You’ll see that there.

1st row: Continue with C. Ch 1. 1 sc in first 7 ch, changing to B holding C to the back of the project. Then use B for 1 sc in next 3 ch. Changing to A holding B to the back of the project. 1 sc in last 7 ch. Turn.

2nd row: Continue with A. Ch 1. 1 sc in first 7 sc, changing to B holding A to the back of the project. Then use B for 1 sc in next 3 sc. Changing to C holding B to the back of the project. 1 sc in rem 7 sc. Turn.

3rd row: Continue with C. Ch 1. 1 sc in first 7 sc, changing to B holding C to the back of the project. Then use B for 1 sc in next 3 sc. Changing to A holding B to the back of the project. 1 sc in last 7 sc. Turn.

4th row: Continue with A. Ch 1. 1 sc in first 7 ch, changing to B holding A to the back of the project. Then use B for 1 sc in next 3 sc. Changing to C holding B to the back of the project. 1 sc in rem 7 sc. Turn.

Rep 3rd and 4th rows as many times as you prefer. I stopped when one of the colours ran out. You can stop of any row. Fasten off.

Apply reserve fringe to both ends of the scarf.
