Free Crochet Bavarian Round Circle Table Center Piece + Tutorial

Get your feet wet with a Crochet Bavarian Stitch Pattern in a true circle for a sample center piece for your table. Getting started with this concept may make you more comfortable with this process. In the future, we have a larger sample coming out that will get much bigger and have a lot of play. It may be the centre of a future stitch-along.

Technical Details

Version 1: Caron One Pound, 454g / 16 oz, 742 meters / 812 yards

• Contrast A - Soft Gray Mix 1 Ball
• Contrast B - White 1 Ball

Version 2: Red Heart Super Saver, 198 g/7 oz, 333 meters/364 yards

• Contrast A - Cherry Red - 1 Ball
• Contrast B - White 1 Ball
• Contrast C - Spring Green 1 Ball

Hook 5 mm / H/8 Crochet Hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge 12 sc and 13 rows = 4" [10 cm]

Measurement 14” diameter across the tips. 

Abbreviations 

• Beg = Begin(ning)
• Beg 2 dc Cluster - Ch 2 (Yoh and insert into stitch, yoh and pull through stitch, yoh pull through 2 loops.) 2 loops on hook, yoh and pull through all 2 loops.
• Beg 3 dc Cluster - Ch 2 (Yoh and insert into stitch, yoh and pull through stitch, yoh pull through 2 loops.) 2 times. 3 loops on hook, yoh and pull through all 3 loops.

With A, ch 4. Join with sl st to beg ch 4 to form ring.

1st rnd: RS. Ch 1. 12 dc in ring. Join. 12 dc.

2nd rnd: Beg cluster in first st as join. Ch 2. *Cluster in next st, ch 2. Rep from * around. Join. 12 clusters & 12 ch-2 sps. 

3rd rnd: Sl st to next ch-2 sp. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp as sl st. 3 sc in next ch-2 sp. 4 sc in  next ch-2 sp. *(3 sc in next ch-2 sp) twice, 4 sc in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * around. Join. 40 sc. 

4th rnd: *Ch 3, dc4tog over the next 4 sc, ch 3. Sl st in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 8 dc4tog petals. 

5th rnd: *(4 dc. Ch 1. 4 dc - petal made) all in next dc4tog st. Sl st in next sl st. Rep from * around. Break A. 8 petals. 

6th rnd: With B, join with sl st to any ch-1 sp. *Ch 5. Dcbp8tog over next 8 dc sts. Ch 5. Sl st in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * around. 8 dc8tog.
