Double Butterfly Scarf

The original Scarf within a Scarf pattern was created. We wondered what would the scarf look like if we doubled the width to create two butterflies across the scarf. This is our experiment turned into an amazing crochet creation. 

I used a transitional colour yarn with this to really kick this scarf into an amazing concept. Some yarns really can make you look creative, even when the stitches are so simple.

Instructions

• 1 Ball of 4 Ply Worsted Medium 4 Weight Yarn. I used 1.5 Balls of Red Heart Treasure Yarn. 151 yards. The colour used in this sample is called "Abstract".
• Scarf seen in the photograph is 7 feet long. 
• Use 6.0 mm or Size J Crochet Hook
• Abbreviations are: Ch = Chain, DC = Double Crochet, SL ST = Slip Stitch, HDC = Half Double Crochet, Beg = Beginning, SC = Single Crochet.

1. Ch 26, DC starting from 5th Ch from hook and all the way across. Turn
2. Ch 3, 1 DC into next two stitches, Ch 7, skip over 7 stitches, DC into next three stitches, Ch 7, skip over 7 stitches, DC into final three stitches. Turn
3. Repeat Row 2
4. Repeat Row 2
5. Ch 3, 1 DC into next two stitches, Ch 3, SL ST wrapping around the chains in Row 2 - 4 underneath, Ch 3, 1 DC into each of middle double crochet stitches. Ch 3, SL ST wrapping around the chains in Row 2 - 4 underneath, Ch 2, 1 DC into the final three stitches. Turn
6. Repeat Rows 2 - 5 as many times as you need to create the length of your scarf.

Below is how to start the Double Butterfly Scarf. Once you get started and finish to Row 5, you simply keep repeating rows 2 - 5 over and over until you get the length of scarf you most prefer. The top section of this chart shows you how to end this scarf.
