Mikey, aka Michael Sellick, of The Crochet Crowd, started this online journey back in 2008. A mere hobby in trying to reach out to others as he was mentally struggling with his own issues. His goal was simple, find others in the yarn communities, like him, that have a common interest.

The journey and main baby of the whole idea started with a YouTube Channel and then in 2011, an official website was developed. Michael is not only the face of The Crochet Crowd but also the working engine behind the crowd in self-taught programming, social media and so much more.

Enjoy the stitching journey. Life is short, enjoy this wonderful hobby and all of the learning opportunities that come with it.

I love yarn and usually have a couple of projects on the go. Sometimes I shop my stash, to behave, but end up needing new yarn to complete the project, lol.

I’m not sure when I “discovered” the youtube videos that Mikey was putting up, but it was early. My mom crocheted, but was unable to teach me, even as an adult. In 2006, I had my first granddaughter, and I struggled with a how-to book, and I made a blanket. And along the way, learning that I could search Youtube, I found Mikey Sellick, and my world changed. I’ve made many, many projects and now I have TEN grandchildren. I’ve taught a couple of them to crochet, and more are willing to learn. I’ve learned so much from Mikey, and I’m still learning more (along with people who share their work on the Crochet Crowd facebook page). I could never have enjoyed my mom’s craft like I do if it were not for Mikey’s teaching videos. Thank you from the bottom of my yarn bag πŸ™‚
